Hi! How are you? I am qaipus (Hypsipetes Ieucocephalus).
Do you know what I am? I am
a rare type of animal – a protected species in Taiwan known as qaipis
(Hypsipetes Ieucocephalus). Bununs call me qaipis (in the Bunun dialect). I
will just call myself qaipis. I live near the Butterfly Valley in Shiouguluan
River in Hualien County. The Butterfly Valley Amusement Grounds are right next
door to us. Head south (Vahuwan community) and you will reach the vast and
lofty peaks of the valley, which is our home.
Over
there you have beautiful scenery and all types of wildlife! There also reside a
contented people, the Bununs, in their own paradise. This is a place very much
worthy of discovering, so would you like to be a guest in my home? I will know you
will make a great guest, so come with me, and you will get to experience a
“cultural feast” that you have never had before. |
