Eighty students and teachers visited Lijia in November 2002 to experience Taitung and tribal culture of Lijia. To encourage the interaction, we designed the following Cultural Experience activities.

Create a bamboo gun to shoot down prop to win a hunter card.

Archery

Shoot the prey prop to win the hunter card.

Coldness can make it bloom

Plum tree garden

Bow, arrow, target, hunter card

 

 

Betel nut carriage

Students, in groups of two, drag betel nut leaf to the opposite side to win a hunter card, exchange position can drag it back.

Get down the horse in fragrance 

Parking lot

Betel nut leaf, hunter card, feather 

 

Creative floral loop

    

Learn to make a simple floral loop with natural materials. The token is feather.

Location clue: 

Red cedar

Plastic rope, natural flowers and plants, scissors, feather

Two fifth grade students

Memory tree

    

Learn about 12 species of tress on campus, and then look for the correct tree. Receive a hunter card for the correct answer.

Fish fish in the pond

Pictures of trees and tree leaves samples, hunter card

    

Native dance 

Learn the native dance from the group leader and receive a hunter card for performance.

Location clue: 
A quadrangle, two sides are parallel, and the other two are not.

Portable CD radio, extension cord, hunter card

  • Remarks 

  1. The prizes are not given upon effort and not performance, and the performance is not rated.

  2. All groups can exhibit their creations at the end and take pictures with the Principle. (The Principle is in traditional attire)

 

  • The following is picnic menu we designed for visitors of Forest Elementary School 

    Picnic preparation
    • Food:

    For 200 people, 12-13 people per group, a total of 16 groups.

    • Breakfast is cooked for all participants

    Pork and bean soup (bean, streaky pork, ginger, salt)

    • Black nightshade soup (porridge), bitter melon and salted egg, 'jet' herb

    Ingredients
    • Vegetables

    black nightshade, bitter melon, 'jet' herb

    • Main course

    keitan (small taro), sweet potato, rice

    • Meat and egg

    Streaky pork, dried fish, salted eggs, fresh eggs

    • Spices

    Salt, pepper, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sugar, salad oil, fried onions
