Rikavong became the largest tribe

Likavong

Historical Data

Rikavong became the largest tribe

The diversity attributed to the strong force of Rikavong

Rikavon (or Rikavong) became a large tribe on the west of Puyuma plain after the weakening of Panglan Puyuma.

Rikavong is located at the midway of rift valley from Chihpen, and its members are diversified. After the failure of Chu Yi-kwan's riot, many rebels followed Wang Chong to the back hill, and some resided in Rikavong. The population and manpower of Rikavong increased quickly, and Rikavong adapted to Han culture.

Rikavong had been collecting tributes in the north or Kazelanka in the early ancient time, and expanded trading to Fangliao in the west and Taitung rift valley in the north.

The convenient location of Rikavong facilitated communication with indigenous traders (including Pingpu Tribe, Amei Tribe, and Hans). The rise of Rikavong as a powerful tribe in Puyuma plain was taken place after early 1880s.
